MHSFF Information

:-)  I started MHSFF with the goal to help families struggling with family members with mental disorders/illness, intellectual disabilities,  eating disorders and learning disabilities.

🙂 Parenting is hard. It’s even harder when the parent is living with a mental health disorder/illness. We provide parents a support system by offering support groups, parent improvement classes, self improvement and therapeutic activities.

:-)  Each family will have a resource worker they will meet twice a month via video chat. The resource worker will be able to help the family obtain  community resources. Such as food stamps, health insurance, doctors appointments, school issues with IEP and behavioral plans, and special education. Every Monday and Friday we will have coffee hour. During this time parents are able to reflect on their week and weekend. Or just come and say hello. We offer our parents different therapeutic activities, support groups, self care and parent improvement groups. We also help parents with their finances and housing situation.

:-)  We offer all kids with mental health disorders/illnesses and their siblings in the home age appropriate groups and therapeutic activities they can participate in. In the near future we plan to start a mentoring program for the kids.

:-)  We also have an art program and after school/tutoring program (Mon-Fri 3-5 during the school year). We supply all the materials needed for the art program.

🙂 Although we run virtually we will also have outdoor activities and field trips. We want to give our families opportunities to go places they may not be able to due to behavioral or intellectual disabilities.
